Darby Creek Valley Association

The Darby Creek Valley (to the tune of Red River Valley)
©J. Haigis

Through this valley a creek is a flowing
Under siege by the forces of man
So take care of the Darby Creek Valley
And help it however you can

When you picnic don't leave any garbage
And when hiking leave nothing behind
For the creek lives in delicate balance
Leave it just as its found humankind

It is home to the algae and mayfly
Which may seem quite common and low
But without these to anchor the food chain
All life as we know it would go

For the algae is food for the mayfly
And the mayfly is food for the trout
And the trout will be somebody's dinner
We're all inter-dependant no doubt

So enjoy all the fruits of the valley
Walk its paths, fish its streams, but be sure
That you work for the health of the valley
So the waters will always be pure
