Regenerate biodiversity and ecosystem function in your own yard! This Darby Creek Valley Association (DCVA) and Lower Merion Conservancy on-line event will describe the reasons and ways to make small yet meaningful changes as well as resources for making bigger changes and opportunities to receive free native plant plugs through local organizations and volunteer work. Presenters include Michelle Detwiler from Wild About Native Plants and Jamie Anderson from Eastern Del. Co. Stormwater Collaborative. A member of the Coopertown Beautification Crew who has done this in their own yard, will discuss how they started their grassroots neighborhood initiative. Inspired by Homegrown National Park.

Mushroom Walk & Talk with Beth Teigen from Philly Mycology Club
Saturday, May 11th, 10am-12pm
Don Guanella Woods
Come learn about the fungus among us in a guided walk with mushroom enthusiast and educator, Bethany Teigen.
Bethany founded the Philadelphia Mycology Club in 2018 after finding some mushrooms coming up between the Philly cobblestones. Since then, the community of novice and experienced mycologists has grown to thrive in Greater Philadelphia. PMC works with many of the environmental education centers in Philadelphia to provide free and accessible mushroom guidance in an urban setting. The group hosts group hikes, workshops, and trash clean ups year round. Bethany also volunteers for Fungal Diversity Survey, a national non-profit dedicated to documenting and conserving the diverse macrofungi of North America. Her main interests are fungal biodiversity, community building, and environmental justice.
DCVA events are always free. Donations are appreciated to support our work to preserve and protect our watershed, but are not required
