Mushroom Walk & Talk with Beth Teigen from Philly Mycology Club

Saturday, November 19th, 10am-12pm

Don Guanella Woods - meet at 600 Reed Rd, Broomall

Come learn about the fungus among us in a guided walk with mushroom enthusiast and educator, Beth Teigen. We will explore one of Delaware County's last older growth forests that was recently saved from development and will be preserved as a county park for all of us to enjoy for generations to come.

Bethany founded the Philadelphia Mycology Club in 2018 after finding some mushrooms coming up between the Philly cobblestones. Since then, the community of novice and experienced mycologists has grown to thrive in Greater Philadelphia. PMC works with many of the environmental education centers in Philadelphia to provide free and accessible mushroom guidance in an urban setting. The group hosts group hikes, workshops, and trash clean ups year round. Bethany also volunteers for Fungal Diversity Survey, a national non-profit dedicated to documenting and conserving the diverse macrofungi of North America. Her main interests are fungal biodiversity, community building, and environmental justice.

DCVA events are always free. Donations are appreciated to support our work to preserve and protect our watershed, but are not required.
